- Biography
I am Radeon Archer, one of the Paralegals here at the Steburg Law Firm. I am originally from the beautiful island of Jamaica and migrated to the United States a few years ago.
My entry into the legal profession was actually borne out of a childhood fantasy. During my pre-teen years, I was an avid reader and became a huge fan of the Nancy Drew mystery series. I would then oftentimes daydream about becoming a detective like Nancy, going on high speed adventures whilst in the pursuit of Justice. As I grew older, my aspirations switched from wanting to become a detective, but I was still consumed with the desire to help people with legal issues and to see justice served. I then embarked on my journey to becoming an Attorney at Law. I pursued my Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados. This was followed by two years of study at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica, where I graduated and was called to the Bar in 2000.
I first practiced as an Associate Attorney in an Estate Planning Law Firm for four years and there I developed an affinity for this area of law. In 2004 I decided to venture out and establish my own practice, The Law Offices of Radeon L.E. Archer, where our main areas of specialization were Probate and Administration and Real Estate Law. I operated my law firm for fourteen fulfilling years until my move to the United States.
While practicing as an Attorney, I was most passionate about professionally handling each client’s case to satisfaction and this work ethic was instilled in my employees. Outside of the office, I shared my knowledge of the law through writing articles to educate the wider community through my bi-weekly column “Legally Yours,” which was published in The Western Mirror Jamaica newspaper for several years. Most of my articles explored Probate and Administration, Estate planning and various Land Title matters.
As a result of my articles, I was oftentimes invited to various forums to speak on Wills and estate planning and in 2009 I was presented with an award for my services in a Speaker series in which I advised Senior Citizens of the importance of estate planning.
Beyond the legal world, I am most passionate about anything that has to do with art, creativity or decor. I love visualizing design concepts for interior decorating and seeing them through to fruition. In Jamaica, I also engaged in event planning as somewhat of a hobby, operating as “Sheer Radiance,” where we planned and decorated various theme parties and weddings. I am also a fan of theater and love to write. In my final year of Law School, I was commissioned with the task of writing the annual play which I named “Reality Bites,” and which became a huge hit with audiences.
I am a sports fanatic and currently my favorite teams are The USC Trojans, The San Francisco 49ers and the Jamaican Track & Field Team. My favorite movie is Cool Runnings, and my favorite genre of music is Reggae.
I am married to my childhood friend, Winston and my only child, Gabrielle is currently in her Junior year at the University of Southern California (USC).
Currently as a Paralegal at the Steburg Law Firm, I play a support role to the Attorneys. I am honored to be a member of the Steburg team where the highest standard of professional service to our clients is considered a courtesy, not a privilege.
